In the wake of WWDC 2014, when the heavily rumored acquisition of Beats by Apple finally came to fruition, you may have overlooked a major acquisition in mobile app development world: Distimo has joined App Annie’s family.
A simple experiment for you: Ask app developers on LinkedIn or Quora which analytical tools they use. We predict that nine out of 10 will tell you that they use App Annie and regularly read Distimo reports/use their analytical tool kits. Yes these companies are popular, with everyone from indie devs to devs working at big companies like Zynga, EA and Rovio. They all they use the solutions these companies provide on a regular basis. It will be really interesting to see what App Annie and Distimo can achieve after joining forces!
We hope both companies go through the transition period smoothly, and that they will emerge on the other end with a combined toolbox to even better provide provide analytic solutions for app developers.
We suspect, even though it’s only a gut feeling at this point, that at some point in the future, Apple will acquire App Annie - just like they did with another extremely popular solution for app developers - TestFlight.
