The Rise of Google Play
King Google is taking the crown once again. It is the best time of the year for Google as I/O 2014, their annual developers conference, came along. To announce the globally known event, App Annie released a unique report emphasizing the substantial growth of Google Play over the past year.
Lets just talk numbers here. Last year, Google Play had approximately 800,000 apps and supplemented 200,000 additional apps in a mere six months! Now that is one large number. In a recent report by App Annie, Google Play quarterly app revenue from 2013 to 2014. It is easy to say that Google is taking the crown in the app world kingdom.
It is particularly clear that Google Play is on the up rise, and that is proven through the numbers listed above. The features don’t just end at hundreds or thousands of apps added to the app store, various unique features include:
- Games’ share of Google Play revenue increased from 80% to 90% between 2013 and 2014.
- Freemium app revenue now accounts for 98% of worldwide revenue on Google Play.
- Worldwide downloads and revenue are increasing, representing a huge opportunity for app publishers.
