All Hail King Facebook: Revenue Soars 61% on Mobile Ads
The king has done it again. In a recent report by MediaPost, Facebook’s revenue has topped the charters within this past quarter. According to the article, earnings of $0.42 per share, excluding one-time items, on revenue of $2.91 billion - up 61% from the year-ago quarter. This is all thanks to its insanely successful mobile ad business.
Along with those incredible statistics, mobile daily active users have grown nearly 40% in comparison to last year’s quarter. That is up more than 650 million on average in June 2014, according to Facebook.
While the mobile business is continuing to grow quickly, taking over the world each and every day, Facebook is in the number two position in terms of earning mobile advertising dollars. Who takes the crown? Google! Facebook holds 22% of the mobile ad market following close behind Google which holds 50% of the mobile ad market. Twitter holds more than 2% of the same market.
Lets not leave it at mobile, Facebook has taken the crown accounting for 5.8% share of worldwide digital ad revenue in 2013 which is up 4.10% in 2012. That number is expected to reach almost 8% by the end of this year, according to eMarketer.
According to USA Today, shares of Facebook have increased a whopping 170% in the past 12 months. That number makes Facebook the top-performing stock in Standard & Poor’s 500 index. The stock hit a record $72.59 in March. Shares are up about 30% this year to $71.29 as of Wednesday’s close.
I guess we can all say that Facebook is having its fair “share” of fun over there. Will the powerhouse company ever be topped?
